Excavation & Backfill
The engineering foundation that guarantees your pool lasts a lifetime.
Built on Solid Ground
A fiberglass pool is only as strong as the earth holding it. Digging the hole is the easy part; prepping the base and backfilling it correctly is where true engineering comes in. The biggest mistake novice builders make in Florida is backfilling the shell with cheap sand, which inevitably washes away and cracks the plumbing.
Dewatering the Site
Florida has a notoriously high water table. During excavation, we often hit groundwater. We install well points and high-powered sump pumps to keep the hole completely dry while we set the base and lower the shell.
Clean Crushed Stone
We refuse to backfill with sand or dirt. We use 100% clean crushed stone (#57 stone or similar). Because the stones are angular, they lock together tightly, creating a massive, immovable structural cradle around your pool.
Plumbing Protection
As we backfill the crushed stone around the outside of the shell, the stone provides rigid support for all the underground PVC pipes. Unlike dirt that settles over time, the stone ensures your plumbing never sags or snaps beneath the deck.
