Simple, Heavy-Duty Filtration
Sand filters have been around for decades for one simple reason: they work, and they are tough. By pushing water through 300+ pounds of sharp silica sand, debris is trapped naturally. When it's dirty, you just turn the handle to "Backwash" and rinse the dirt out into the yard.
Low Maintenance
Unlike cartridge filters that must be disassembled and manually hosed off, or D.E. filters that require messy powder, sand filters only require a simple 2-minute backwash whenever the pressure gauge reads high.
Great for Heavy Debris
If you live in an area with a lot of oak trees, heavy leaf fall, or frequent algae blooms, a sand filter is incredibly forgiving. It can process a ton of heavy organic material without clogging up as quickly as pleated cartridges.
The Glass Media Upgrade
Standard sand filters down to about 20-40 microns. However, we offer an upgrade to crushed Activated Glass Media. It looks like coarse sand, but it is negatively charged to attract fine dust, filters down to 9 microns, and lasts nearly twice as long as regular sand.
