Impellers & Priming Issues

Restoring flow to pumps that just won't catch water.

Winning the Battle Against Air

Pool pumps are designed to move water, not air. If your pump basket is full of bubbles, or if it runs for 10 minutes but never fills with water (failing to prime), your filtration system is completely paralyzed. We methodically trace the suction lines to find the invisible air leaks.

Suction Side Air Leaks

If the pump is sucking air, it can't pull water from the pool. We inspect and lubricate the pump lid O-ring, check the Jandy valves in front of the pump, and reseal threaded PVC connections that have shrunk in the sun.

Clogged Impellers

If your pressure gauge reads near zero, but the pump sounds fine, the impeller is likely choked with debris. We open the pump casing to extract pine needles, hair, and pebbles trapped in the impeller vanes.

The Danger of Running Dry

If a pump fails to prime and is left running dry, the water inside boils. This melts the internal pump basket, warps the PVC housing, and destroys the mechanical seal. If your pump won't catch water, turn it off immediately and call for service.
