The "Screeching Sound of Death"

If your pool pump sounds like a jet engine taking off in your backyard, you are hearing the sound of failing motor bearings. This almost always happens because the mechanical seal (which separates the water from the electronics) has failed, allowing chlorinated water to wash the grease out of the motor bearings.

Failed Bearings

Once bearings start screaming, the motor's lifespan is measured in days. Eventually, the friction will create enough heat to completely seize the motor or melt the plastic housing attached to it.

Wet End vs. Dry End

You don't always have to throw the whole pump away. If the "wet end" (the plastic basket housing) isn't cracked, we can simply detach the dead motor and bolt on a brand new, high-efficiency Century motor.

The "Always Replace the Seal" Rule

We never install a new motor without installing a brand new mechanical shaft seal. Putting a new motor behind a degraded seal will just flood the new motor with water, destroying it instantly.
