Defeating the Air Gap

When a new liner is dropped into the pool shell, a massive pocket of air is trapped between the vinyl and the walls. If you just start filling the pool with a hose, the water will push that air around, creating massive folds and permanent wrinkles. We use high-powered industrial vacuums to suck that air out, snapping the liner perfectly against the walls.

Heavy-Duty Vacuums

We drop the hose of a powerful shop-vac behind the liner bead and tape it off. When turned on, the vacuum sucks the liner tight against the vermiculite floor and steel walls, showing us exactly how the liner will fit *before* a single drop of water is added.

Kicking Out Small Folds

While the vacuum holds the tension, our technicians walk the floor in bare feet, physically kicking and shifting the vinyl to eliminate any minor creases in the corners or around the main drains.

The Weight of the Water

We leave the vacuums running non-stop as the water begins to fill. Once the water level reaches about 6 to 12 inches in the shallow end, the weight of the water becomes strong enough to hold the vinyl in place permanently. Only then do we pull the vacuums and lock in the final bead.
